Fireball22 : Doing Something Original : Carster.com

I received what I thought was a rather odd car question the other day: "Nice Galaxie. But why didn't you do something original instead of an old race car?"

I had to think on that one a bit. And then I had a good laugh.

I guess that in the online automotive show-world we enjoy on sites like Carster, we all have different ideas of what's "original". I guess re-creating a nearly 45-year old race car as a tribute to a great driver, a race team that would set the standard for NASCAR racecars for the next four decades, and to an important era in racing history, is "unoriginal".

I could go on the offensive and point out that there are probably 5,000 iterations of '92 Honda Civics out there (and equally high numbers of other years of Hondas, Acuras, Eclipses, Legacys, etc., but you get my drift) built as slammed street racers, sporting body cladding, carbon-fiber hoods, rubber-band tires and spoilers that threaten to scrape the underside of freeway overpasses. And yet, each one of those is considered an "original".

And, in my mind, they are. Despite the fact that there are literally tens of thousands of "ricers" out there, each one is just as original as my one-off stock car replica.

It's sad that there are some car enthusiasts remaining out there that can't yet fathom the concept that other car enthusiasts have their own ideas and dreams that may not fit the molds of others. You know who these people are... we call them Haters.

Thankfully, the Carster community has fewer real Haters. Sites like Cardomain, on the other hand, seem to be overrun with them. And they tend to be pretty vocal.

Some owners' cars have few modifications, if any, yet are special to that owner. In a few cases, the owner simply isn't in the position to do something with their particular ride, limited by cash or mechanical ability, and sometimes restricted by both. But they're fellow enthusiasts. Let them have their moment in the spotlight, too.

My 72 year-old dad ("Flumer" on Carster) has built some incredible cars. He is a craftsman, pure and simple. Customized '32 Fords number in the thousands, but each one is seen as original. Their owners tend to be more accepting of the perceptions and conceptualizations of other builders. Maybe it's a matter of maturity, but with very few exceptions will you find someone in that class of owners/builders that you can call a Hater. They recognize that they are part of a brotherhood of automotive enthusiasts.

At the NSRA Street Machine Nationals last October my dad joked to some of his buddies that I have tenth of the investment in my Galaxie of a lot of other builders, yet have more fun with it. And I pretty much do.

Regardless of the fact that you won't find another '64 Galaxie street -legal stock car out there on your local highway, my car was original from the moment I turned the first bolt.

Just like yours.

That's my 2 cents. Your mileage may vary.

Fireball22 : Historic Stock Car racing VS the "Golden Age" : Carster.com

If you happen to read my drivel here on Cartser, you're likely aware of my connection to the Historic Stock Car Racing Series, or HSCRS. This group of racing enthusiasts not only restore and maintain retired Winston Cup and Busch Series stock cars, they race them on road courses here on the west coast. The HSCRS first saw light as the Historic Stock Car Race Group West, a spinoff from an original group in the heart of NASCAR country in the southeast.

Like NASCAR today, regardless of where it started it is now active on both coasts of the U.S. We have a belief that historic NASCAR race cars do not belong in a static museum display, but are best represented as they were intended by being raced again.

And the old sponsors seen on the restored cars don't pay a dime to keep their names on the cars. But the sponsor names remain there in tribute to those brave companies that helped to deliver NASCAR to millions of fans the world over. No, the members of the HSCRS pay out of their own pockets for the privilege of putting these historic machines back into competition.

And something really special about the members of the HSCRS; they use their cars as (ahem) vehicles to help generate funds for many children's charities.

So, what is the difference between the HSCRS and NASCAR G.A.S.? Well... not much. And then, a lot.

The HSCRS' primary focus is verifiable former NASCAR Winston Cup stock cars 1994 and older. These fall under the favored category of "Historics" and is the source of the group's formation. Any owner that has a 1994 and older Cup car can also own and race in select events a Cup car built and raced as late as 2003, or the end of the Winston Cup era. These cars are referred to as "Contemporary" cars, and are understandably more identifiable to most NASCAR fans.

Up until recently any Winston Cup cars built prior to 1980 were classified as "Vintage". But San Jose businessman and founder of the HSCRS, John Davis, has devoted a lot of attention to a new class of historic stock cars that are being referred to as the "Chrome Bumper" class; that is, cars built and raced from NASCAR's perceived "Modern Era" (1973) to 1987, with a focus primarily in pre-1980 stock cars.

So, why not just let that count as NASCAR G.A.S. and go from there? Because NASCAR G.A.S. wants to devote a focus to those heroes, sung and unsung, that took NASCAR up to the point that it became "modern". With the HSCRS bringing the 70s and 80s back to life for fans to appreciate, the 40s through the 60s need someone to keep those memories up front to be appreciated, and that's where NASCAR G.A.S. comes in.

Now if only we could afford to put the old cars back on the racetracks as well.

That's my 2 cents. Your mileage may vary.

LedZeppelin : Nascar Golden Age Society : Carster.com

I would like to invite you to a venture I have taken with my good friend Don Falloon, aka 'Fireball'.
Together we have embarked on an idea that people do enjoy a good story. It is even better when that story involves an idea everyone is familiar with and truly enjoys.
Big Bill France, the consumate promoter of Stock Car Racing had an uncanny idea that people did in fact enjoy sunday afternoons with howling v8 engnes roaring around oval tracks. He even spearheaded an ambitious idea of a 2 1/2 mile tri-oval track to be built in the marshes along the Florida Coastline. Today, Daytona packs hundreds of thousands of screaming fans into two weeks of raw power and speed leading up to the February showcase race, the Daytona 500.

Here is a facinating story all its own. Somewhere along the line we aim to tell it.
We also want to tell lesser known and forgotten stories about how this monster of a fan freindly event came to be. For instance, you may not have known that the Charlotte Speedway was was build by brothers Pat and Harvey Charles, two known Bootleggers. They built the track in the dirt of CC Allison's farm, but never saw the first strictly modified Nascar sanctioned race there because they were convicted on bootlegging charges.
Its stories like these that inspire us, and want to share them with our own brand of humor, and satrical meanderings.
We will be adding drivers, cars and historic moments that added to the colorful history of Stock Car Racing. There will be pictures of events and the original venues as we can research them. In some instances, pictures may not exist, so you as our readers will have to rely on our crack story telling talents to get the feel of our tales.
In time, we will add a store so you can purchace merchandise to show your support of a byegone era.
We also have plans to add a member's area where you can post pictures of your racemobile, and tell the world why you like being a Stock Car Racing Fan.

We hope this will be an enjoyable expirence for you!

This will take some time to build the database of stories, and media presentation, but our site is up! Please stop by and drop us a line to show your support!

Log onto www.nascar-gas.com today!

P.S. The NASCAR Golden Age Society is not is not affilliated with, nor endorsed by, the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR).

Fireball22 : NASCAR Golden Age Society : Carster.com

The 50th running of the Daytona 500 took place yesterday. Ryan Newman won.

Big deal.

You know, that's a pretty sad statement coming from me. I've always felt myself to be among the Ultimate of NASCAR fans. But, if you happened upon my earlier blog, "NASCAR's COT has made me an FOY", you'd know that the very sport I have loved for over 40 years has pushed me away. Still, I do hold on to the ideals that made me fall in love with the sport to begin with. That said, it is now time to do something about it.

Things are a little quiet here on Carster, so my bud Led Zeppelin and I have put together a private website dedicated to the Golden Age of NASCAR. As of this post it's only a day old... still in its infancy. But it will grow demonstrably over the coming weeks.

We thought it fitting to debut the site to coincide with the 50th running of the Daytona 500. We'd like to think that such an auspicious anniversary deserved recognition of the roots of the sport.

It's time to look back at a time when a NASCAR racer wasn't a faceless bubble that ony appears like its street counterpart thanks to a couple stick-on decals. To look back with a reverence that goes beyond the TV-fed flashback. Therefore, we offer old-school fans (and newbies that want to learn more):

The NASCAR Golden Age Society.

We invite you to drop by and check out the site at www.nascar-gas.com over the coming weeks. Hopefully, you'll want to come back for more and join us in paying tribute to NASCAR's "Golden Age"... when Stock Cars were stock, and the drivers seemed cast from the same metal as their cars.

That's my 2 cents. Your mileage may vary.

P.S. The NASCAR Golden Age Society is not is not affilliated with, nor endorsed by, the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR).

LedZeppelin : End of an Error - er - Era : Carster.com

It has long been established that NASCAR sprouted its gilded wings from the dank back woods of the deep south, with the smell of fine corn whiskey trailing in the fumes of spent gasoline. The only problem is that the established roots of true stock car racing is one of those ugly skeletons that most fine upstanding citizens like to keep hidden behind the never used snow skies up on a shelf in the closet no one is ever allowed to open.

One can (and has several times ) trace the lineage of racing stock cars back to the whiskey tripping that went on lawlessly through the early parts of the last century.

Make no mistake, somewhere along the lines, someone in thier best intentions decided that home brewed alcohol of any kind was a crime against nature. But as the best of todays bible thumping Christians will tell you, the road to hell is paved with good intentions...

At this point in our ability to create history as we go, the right to drink adult beverages is legal as is brewing beer in micro breweries, sometimes in our homes. Uncle Sam still looks down on those using fermented kernals of corn, mostly because they are probably not getting thier cut on the profits.

The soulful act of transporting hundreds of gallons of 'Moon shine" on a clandestine night run down Thunder Road has given way to other nefarious schemes to be sure. Agents of the ATF still search for illegal stills deep in the woods, but word of Bootleggers being chased hasn't really had the attention of the general public like the televised chases of DUI John Q Public in the south.

What has the publics awarness in the south is that of NASCAR. Billed as the fastest growing sport in the world, brightly colored machines of questionable lineage squirt across milliions of televisions sets accross the nation and around the world. The Chevy's, Fords and Chryslers battle it out every weekend, circling tracks at some of the most mind numbing venues ever.

Its hard to pinpoint any track in particular because the names of the venues continue to change just as soon as the advertising contract runs out. What was last year known as a track named for an electronics company is now known by a pharmacutical company. Just as confusing is the number of colors and sponsors splashed across any one race car.

Its not like the origins of the sport, when racers had two toned paint jobs, and the name of someones garage hand painted on the door and roof. Just as likely, Race tracks themselves held a mistque about them. Lakewood, Daytonna Beach and Road Course, and others of the early years brought out fans just because of the stories of the new sport, and the danger involved with individual tracks.

Flash forward to our anticeptically clean, family friendly Sunday afternoon race series, and a clean race expected by all. Race drivers that have clean records with the law, and no funny business in the family from which they come from. Every single one will step in front of a camera, and be sure to thank all the fine folks who helped get them where they are now just as long as the company name is somewhere on the car.

And speaking of the car itself... When did stock car racing mean 'specially purpose built machines meant only for racing? Ever try to buy one of them race cars down at the local Dodge dealer? If they have one, Its on display because of a Nextel Series event is in town. You can have one for roughly the price of an Italian exotic. Even then it may be a season or two old, and made out of colored duct tape and bondo.

So where did the real stock car race die?

When did it become not ok to have a crimminal record, and still have fans of your driving talents?

Many arguments have been made over the years, and some still rage today. But the most common agreement is Big Bill France is responsible for the whole thing. He managed to rid "his" sport of the lawless whiskey trippers and other sorted lawbreakers. Inturn, the money that was being made by the races was phenomenal. Besides, the establishment of the day had no use for the crimminal element that birthed the modern car race. The France family took the world by storm in bringing the sanctity of NASCAR to the masses. A sport that appeals to every one.

Everyone that is aware of stock car racing today can name a favorite driver, and the number of his car. As of this past week (Feb 5th 2008) The number one favorite is Dale Earnhardt Jr, car Number 88.

Every one has or had a favorite.

Years after NASCAR was actually formed, Bill France SR. was asked on several occasions to name the top ten drivers of all time. As the years went along, the names would change, but a driver named Lloyd Seay always appeard on France's lists. The thing was, Seay was never a true NASCAR driver. He was a Ridgerunner from Dawsonville (some say the birth place of NASCAR) who found he had a knack for racing. Seay was killed in a shooting years before France was able to actually form NASCAR.

There is a duality that is hard to explain, but Bill France SR knew he needed the skillfull hands of ridgerunners to create the frenzied anticpation fans were known for in those early years. France drove in race seasons himself, and hated to lose to the Georgia boys, but he admired thier skills. He saw how thier personalities drew crowds. He probably knew it was a matter of time before other talented boys would take thier places and by then, he could slowly close that closet door forever.

Lloyd Seay was one of those rare being that instictivly knew racing at its very heart. It was a shame to lose a rsing star in a sport still in its infancy. Its pleasant to know that the head of the France family held him and others like him in high reguard because of thier driving talents.

Just as much, it is still a shame not to give more of a tribute to the pioneers of such an incredible event as NASCAR today. Illegal Moonshine aside, getting into a sedan and revving the engine at a stoplight brings about a raw feeling of power and freedon that isn't tangible. Gunning the engine a little on mountain passes isn't for the faint of heart, but brings a little smile to the speeder in everyone who truly enjoys thier car.

Even the most law abiding citizen occasionally rises above the speed limit late at night. Even before drivers panic because of the law that isn't there, there is a moment of savoring that little indiscretion. We arn't running from the law with Whiskey strapped into the back. But I wonder how many who read this have one time or another thought what would it be like to actually go for it? Or run full top down a wooded path from the law and be victorious?

So when was the end of the era, and the begining of the modern Stock Car race?

To answer this question, or at least come up with some probables, try researching the sport along avenues of historical context leading up to the inception of NASCAR. A good vien of research will actually take you back to the structural beginings of our country, perhaps even earlier. At the very least, you will find yourself immersed in the deep woods of the south, smelling the sour mash of fermenting corn.

The first tracks wern't roundy rounds, but rutted dirt paths winding thier ways through rough terrain.

The charactor Doc from Disney/Pixar's "Cars" is probably the closest many of you have come to the early years of NASCAR. Marshall Teague actually drove the real Fabulous Hudson Hornet depicted in "Cars" But to explain the type of journey you would take to research the motor sports history, as Doc said to Lightning Mcqueen

"....you have to turn right to go left..."

Until next time,
Go play guitar Hero

LedZeppelin : Still wanna rock? : Carster.com

Hey there! Just thought I'd drop in and offer another two cents worth of my drival. First off, blogging is probably the lowest form of backyard gossip. The only difference is the amount of nieghbors that may or may not gossip back. Who really reads this garbage, and who really gives a flying f.f.f.f.f ?

Well here we go again with my thoughts about auto enthusiast web sites such as this on and the many others that dot the cyber landscape.

Recently, while surfing another site, known as Cardomain, I ran across a page dominated with what could only be termed as demi-racist attitude. There was no actual human ethnicity being slurred, or any of that type of horrendous trash being offered. What was blogged on a page meant for pictures of cars was mostly idiotic,
ignorant rants about fellow enthusiast.

It seems that innocent car junkies find sites like Cardomain with like minded gear heads. These folks register without actually owning a car, or if they do, its Grandma's 87 Cutlass Supreme with massive amounts of rust. They then surf the net and rip pictures from unsuspecting websites that show fine exotics, and post them as the cool cars they wish they could own. Some may even try to pass that fine Italian piece off as thier own.

Aside from the obvious portents of questionable taste, Most of these "offenders" are simply trying to find a place to fit in, and Dang it, yep that Italian number would look cool in my drive as well!

My son and I find common ground in the area of trains. What kid does't like big steam engines and diesal locos? The same arrogant atmosphere that permeated this one Cardomain members site also runs rampant im many of the model railroading hobby shops around the area I live in. Why do I bring this up? You see, my kid likes trains, so why do old men look down upon him? Same as the kids who become members of free sociaties such as this one here, and Cardomain. These old men are ignorantly blissful in thier belief that children are the scourge of the train hobby, and should be stopped. Tsk tsk.

That ten year old can draw the wickedest looking Lambo ever on the back of his binder. He will dream of owning his own set of wheels for the next seven years!
Myspace is boring to him yet he likes to be around likeminded gearheads learning anything and everything about drifting that Nissan he wants! So in this digital age, he turns to the web only to be lamblasted for his personal dreams (not being good enough or just plain over the top)

That 17 year old kid that just actually got his Grandma's Olds (the one with all the rust) has a new sense of freedom, just like you had when you got your first ride.
The only problem he has is the Burger Bag doesn't pay squat, so the mismatched set of unhealthy looking tires will have to do. Does that mean he isn't aloud to dream about what he thinks the Olds could be?

Does a member of any of these web sites actually have to own, currently, a marquee brand automobile, with a concourse quality finish? Does the car in question have to be rare, Barrett Jackson material?

Quite honestly, the way this single person aired his complaint annoyed me, but it wasn't just his comments. Others were invited to join the slaughter of the innocents by way of guestbook signing. And to no suprise, now that a good thing was brought before the firing squad, the enraged villagers showed up, en masse, with thier pitchforks, burning torches, knives and guns. Not a single person stood up to defend the right to be a part of a free community without reprisal.

The disgruntled members swung away at the rest of the half million members on that one carsight alone, and bandied about the ideas of paid memberships and regulating exactly who should be allowed to post. It began to sound very cliquish, and quite rude.

They even took issue with posted pictures of the scantily clad women that appear within certain member pages. Unfortunatley, that is of concern with many forums pertaining to what is decent and what isn't, so I won't bother with thier rants, other than to say, if those pictures are of bother, why is that portion of this car culture so predominate at events such as NOPI?

I digress.

My point is this:

We have been allowed an unprecedented chance to become part of a culture much larger than the highschool parkinglot where guys (and girls) used to hang out and share good times around the clunker sedan or fixed up hot rod. What used to be just a concourse event or hot rod and custom show is now a 24 hour virtual car show where anyone can attend without threat of condemnation. This is our chance to appriciate each others love for personal transportation no matter the marque. The battle between Ford, Chevy, and Mopar was always light hearted at its core.
Hard core followers of those streetlight skirmishes showed repect towards each other. So what now has changed?

So why are we finding issues with these kind of insurgents?

I don't have the answer to that one, but I can tell you, It reeks of the intolerable conditions this country suffers from way outside of this automotive subject. I called it racist earlier.

Sadly, even though some of the people targeted are of the same ethnicity, it still smacks of a condencending air that shouldn't exist.

I have said enough for now. I hope my point is taken in the vain it was meant. To be fair, I have not run into these problems here at Carster. Most of the people stopping by to ogle my car have nice things to say about it. It it after all just a Saturn. Guys and gals with all kinds of different cars and lifestyles get what I am doing here. We are gearheads all.

Fireball22 : Sponsors, sponsers, and $pon$or$ : Carster.com

I enjoy checking out the many sweet rides on the many car sites that I visit on the 'net. There's pride of ownership, attention to detail, and craftsmanship that, in some cases, borders on Art. And then there are the rides that run the gamut from plain-Jane to outright rustbucket, yet are just as loved by their owners.

And then there are the "wannabe" great rides; flights of fancy that haven't yet reached their potential. Ah! But the owner is trying to solve that problem... by simply posting a single line at the bottom of the long list of upgrades they want to add to their ride: "im lookin for sponsers"

Far too many sponsorship hopefuls live in the far-off fantasy world where some company or promoter is going to fall over themselves to hand over money or parts so the car owner can fulfill his dreams, while the only effort the owner has to make in return is slapping one of the sponsor's decals on the car.

Well, guys... it's time to open your eyes to the world of Sponsorship! And I'm not blogging this to beat up on sponsor-seeking hopefuls and dreamers. I'm actually trying to help... so at least finish reading before you flame on the old guy. Fair 'nuff?

First of all, be honest with yourselves and get real. Sponsors are not in the business of fulfilling YOUR dreams. Sponsorship is a business association that is intended to create further business for the sponsoring company. Unless you have something significant to bring to the table, then you need to buy your parts just like everyone else. And more often than not, this requires that you go out and earn the money necessary to buy those desired parts. At retail prices, no less!

In racing (real racing, not the stoplight-to-stoplight stupidity that tries to pass for racing), sponsorship is NOT built upon a need of a race team to have the funds to race. It is driven by a need of a business to promote and advertise in order to grow and prosper. The race team is just a "vehicle" to that end. The sponsor is trying to get the biggest bang for his buck, so he needs to be tied to a winner, or at the very least be tied to a driver and/or team that can regularly challenge for the win. The more a race team can draw attention to their sponsor through their performance, the more money they can demand and expect from that sponsor or potential sponsors. Another key to this concept is if the team or driver creates more POSITIVE attention for the sponsor. Negative publicity can easily equal cancellation of sponsorship.

And it works much the same way in the Car Show world. Sponsorship is a PARTNERSHIP. What can YOU provide the sponsor for his money or product that he can't get from someone else, or by simply advertising in a trade magazine or exhibitor's booth? If a sponsor has a choice between the guy who only talks about what he could do if he had sponsorship and the guy who busted his ass to build a car that is drawing lots of attention in shows and publications and can only do better with some deserved $$... who do you think the sponsor is going to go with?

By the way, "winning" an illegal street race with your sponsor's performance parts is not a good advertising method for your sponsor. It is a method of creating potential LIABILITY for that sponsor. And businesses do not like the thought of liabilities.

Owners of historic race cars have learned this. There have been a few companies that have sought to have their insignia removed from cars that were once sponsored by their company, not seeing the old insignia on the car as free advertising, but as a potential legal liability should one of their formerly sponsored cars drift off a track and into a crowd. This, even though we're racing in sanctioned events on purpose-built race tracks with all the proper safety equipment and emergency services. (Laugh at the absurdity of the thought, but I guarantee there are thousands of ambulance-chasing lawyers that would kill for a chance to pursue that kind of far-fetched opportunity.)

Bottom line: If you're really looking for sponsors, then YOU NEED TO LOOK. You can't sit on your butt playing the latest incarnation of "Need for Speed" on your X-Box and expect sponsors to beat down your door with cash in hand. A potential sponsor needs to know how you're going to make their sponsorship dollars work in the SPONSOR'S favor. You need to basically develop a business plan and present it to a company in a way that makes them bypass their own skepticism and gives them confidence that YOU are the best means to their advertising ends.

Oh, a simple grasp of basic English and a little use of Spell Check wouldn't hurt, either. Most business people will respond better to "I'm looking for sponsors" than "im lookin for sponsers".

That's just my 2 cents. Your mileage may vary.

Fireball22 : So, just how many sites are you guys on? : Carster.com

My bestest car buddy Don (whom you may better know on here as Led Zeppelin) and I have a lot of fun on Carster, but we don't limit ourselves to just this venue.

Carster is great. But it (at this time) doesn't have the level of exposure as some other sites. It deserves more attention. In a way, me and Don/Led Z. and our blatant attempt to take over the gearhead web-world by posting our rides on other websites is a way of drawing more attention here as well.

It also serves as a lighthearted competition between Don and me. I'm fortunate that my "Fireball" has a few more sites available than his "Stitch". But we're working to change that. More on that in a moment...

Okay, so on what other websites have I parked Fireball? Let me count the ways: Carster.com, CarDomain.com, PopularHotRodding.com, HotRod.com, CarCraft.com, FordMuscle.com, Buildsheet.com, MuscleMustangFastFords.com, RideRoom.com, CoolFords.com, HotRodHotline.com, and a spot on the New York Times website's automotive section. And I have about 4 others that I will be adding to my list of occupied sites. (The only thing I've missed is a site for my car on MySpace.com... and I may very well be the only person left on this earth without a MySpace page at this point in time. We'll see...)

Why so many sites? Again, that's part of the fun. Part of the social networking concept. Part of the whole idea for building a car that you feel is worthy enough to drive, and to share with other like-minded car nuts.

And, at $3.25 a gallon for gas (as of 1/13/08), it's a lot cheaper to run your car on recycled electrons and share it over the net than it is to drive it all over the world.

Oh, and The Other Don and I have a plan to get "Stitch" on more websites... by putting it in disguise so it can blend in with other car makes. What? Stay tuned...

Above all, blanketing the net with our cars is pretty much just because we want to, and we can. And there's really nothing wrong with that.

That's my 2 cents. Your mileage may vary.

LedZeppelin : So you wanto to be a rockstar...? : Carster.com

Welcome to my blog! My name is Don Hartwick. I live in Orangevale, California, work around the State Capitol and have spent time in the Governors Office.

(Yes I have seen Arnie, No I don't have his autograph, nor do I want it...)
I drive the little blue Saturn affectionately known as Stitch seen here on this web site,,,,and on about 7 others.

I am as active as I can be in updating and posting new information on all of these sites.

Trouble is, alot of the contacts I have made over the past couple of years arn't updating me with how thier restorations are coming along.
You may have red a recent blog by fellow Carster, and freind of mine, Don Falloon. He very succinctly mentioned this somewhat dissapointing trend among many fellow enthusiasts who take a moment to post a few tantalizing shots of their rides and then fade into the sunset.

Since I am not quite at that older end of the age spectrum
(I am a member of the Guys over 40 Rulez club)
I almost fall into the catagory of the young jocks on the go and thier amazing ground based shiny machines. These fine people have grown up as part of the 'MySpace Generation" They know this as a viable solution for group interaction, whereas we who did not grow up with the internet, and actually remember the first personal home computer being nothing more than a glorified calculator.

We remember having to wait until our friend got off the phone at his house so we could call them. There was no such thing as call waiting. To make matters worse, we actually had to race home to actually make a Call!! we couldn't simply text our friends from the middle of the intersection tying up traffic!

"Hey! Go around me! I'm trying to text the President!!"

My point is we have figured out quite well how to use these new fangled internet communication devices. Digital photography isn't the wave of the future. Its here now.

Most of us now have the capital to actually create that raging machine either in the garage now, or in our dreams. If not that, we can certainly buy a starter and drive it until the wheels come off!

But what about the rest of us?

I really enjoy looking at rides from all era's. Clean and straight, or wound up and bound up killer machines. Doesn't matter. Trouble is, if you got that 36 Auburn down there in Jersey, or that fried up and sugar coated 71 Camaro over in Whichita, I want to see it! I would enjoy seeing the transformation with updates on your progress in getting that old Ford Flatbed up and running!

You will find you are making friends while you make changes.
Sooner or later the paint on grandmas old Catalina is going to need freshening. You might consider a new set of rims, or a new flowmaster exaust system. The point here is it doesn't have to be car show ready for people of like minds to appriciate it. Keeping pace with your car is one thing. You do or you don't.

Keeping pace with a group of friends is another.

That being said, always there will be controversy.

The internet is a wierd place akin to the old wild American west. It can be lawless out here. Mostly, it is peaceful until you find yourself on the wrong side of the tracks. Of course, that is another blog for another time.

So I encourage you to take a moment to snap a fresh shot of your home made convertible and throw it up on your page. Say hey to the friends you have made on your journey through cyberspace.

We're all out here waiting for you.

I am a member of these fine Auto Enthusiats web sites, which are all free to post and blog on.

Carster, Cardomain, Carspace (Through Edmunds.com) Rideroom, Buildsheet, Hotrod, Carcraft, and Hemmings.

Now go play some guitar Hero!

mrvent : Quality and big interpretation for a big pric : Carster.com

I have read some reviews on that they comment on the difficulty to change in the 3rd march. I have thought that occasionally also I have a little of difficulty that it changes into that march, nevertheless I have noticed that the Acura Rdx Exhaust meets rapid changes after the car has been idle a little bit. Once the car is warmed or if I make sure to myself that the clutch is in everything to the soil, the problem does not seem to appear. I had a Jeep 2000 Wrangler earlier and it was bothered by problems. This car has been the free maintenance apart from the change of normal oil that only happens every miles of 5 kilobyte. The gas mileage is big, only I have to fill the tank once every week and a half to two weeks. I expelled from Boston Montreal in an alone tank that enough good was. I love disadvantages that I have noticed they have been the lack of hug in the tires in difficult corners and the inability of tying a roof it mounted to the carrier of motorbike. In addition to this, the car is a gem.

Would not buy the fact that again; only to the flatness he did not like this. I am sure that this is an agreeable car, and the Acura Rl Axle Assembly reliability is well. It is just as them they decided to use this disagreeable engine, of that time they put a car about it. I thought that this was a poor example of a car done by Sling.

Rough walk; perhaps this is the high tires of interpretation. You seem it goes 100 miles per hour and you only do 70.

I prefer leading my old man Volvo 240, or up to a Sonata Hyundai. Or really, Lexus of my Dad 300 IS it is infinitely better mannered.

1991 and a little of the NSX'S 1992 they have a problem of transmission that comes from the sudden ring. Mine fell down in this category and they cost me 2,000 dollars to fix. The problem is done by that shifter of the car moves around and one makes to explode out of the march (very annoying). Since more information to see www.nsxprime.com.

The car also has defective Acura Rl Acc Cabin Filter and window regulators does that the window of power stops the functioning. Also much I spend (500 $/regulador). In addition to problems of assembly, the car has run as a gem.

mrvent : Parts Replaced : Carster.com

After possessing 98 ML320 that was in the shop two times a year to be checked, I calculated that the buy of a sling would give me the best possibility in the possession of a reliable car. INCORRECT! One month after I took the delivery, the Acura Rl AC Compressor and climate control stopped working. Result to be a relief, which the distributor replaced in accordance with the guarantee. Everything was well a little bit, then the transmission began to change irregularly, and pushed back to remain in the 5th march. The distributor replaced it, only to do that that one will trump miles of 60 kilobyte later. I cannot believe yet this one. When did he forget Sling as to do a Transmission? My wife has hired 4 Fords, even 2 Tauros, in last 15 years, and in spite of why others have happened, I never had to put a tranny in any of them. Now do I replace transmissions in Slings? Pouf! At least both were replaced in accordance with the guarantee.

Fireball22 : Park and Fly? : Carster.com

Let's see... it takes 5 minutes to sign up for a Carster account, and maybe an investment of 15 minutes or so to upload pictures and type in some text about your fave ride.

And then fall of the face of the earth.

There are a significant number of Carster accounts that have been created and then left to fade into cyberspace. 6 and 7 months pass since the last login or update. And this is a shame because many prized automotive projects tend to continue evolving over time, and it would be nice to see what has transpired over that time.

I'll have to assume that many of the past-due accounts were created by an older group of netizens that don't tend to see a website as a community where you remain involved. Post your ride proudly for all the world to see, and then focus on your day-to-day existence until this site fades into something no longer important in the grand scheme of life.

The younger members tend to look on the whole internet car display thing as a networking resource where they gather and maintain relaionships with like-minded people literally worldwide, so by default they become the leaders of the custom car world.

Where am I going with this?

One of the most fun aspects of Carster are the Showdowns. My cars have been challenged a number of time, mostly by the younger folks with their more modern and vastly more modified street rigs. As a result, my old-school stuff tends to not capture as many votes because there are far more members with the same style of cars on here, so there is a certain amount of favoritism.

Don't get me wrong... that's fine with me! I just like the idea of friendly competition, win or lose.

What I am saying is that there are a large number of members registered on here with vehicles closer in age and concept to mine who are no longer actively involved in Carster. And most of them, like me, are of the slightly older end of the age spectrum. The shame is that they aren't around to get involved in things like Carster Showdowns, which I see as a great resource for increasing exposure for many deserving rides (whether or not they come up the "winner") as well as keeping Carster fresh.

Remember... you don't have to live your life on here, but drop in once in a while to see what the rest of the world is doing.

That's my 2 cents... your mileage may vary.

Fireball22 : Whoa! They woke up! : Carster.com

In a previous blog I asked if Carster was asleep at the switch. Well, it looks like they've woken up!

The Showdown functionality is virtually bug free now, and the speed of page loading has improved significantly. Sure, I'd like to take the credit for getting the site administrators' attention with my earlier blog, but I'm confident that there were more than a few of us on here that were ringing their alarms.

I've also noticed (in case anyone else hasn't) that the news articles are gone completely. Given how far outdated they were, this is a good move that keeps the site looking fresher and more up-to-date. But, I hope that this also means that we'll be seeing more updated content in the future so the site will again live up to the part of its creators' company mission that reads: "Carster is also building an archive of car related news, photos and event coverage which you'll find nowhere else."

So, yes... Carster as woken up. Now if we can just keep them from hitting the snooze button...

mrvent : 1998 BMW 7 Series : Carster.com

this manages extraordinarily well for a car of 2.5 tons and it is plush and very comfortable for long trips. VERY SURE, obtained bottom finished in the highway and this only left a small dent in the fender while another car almost was added! Rear quarter of leg incredible. The gas mileage for the highway is decent, 25mpg for a recent trip of 200 miles. The mileage of city is not so big in 11mpg.

If you think to buy it used, Do not do it! I have learned not to buy German secondhand cars, if you do not have too much money, new rental! In general, the expenses of BMW 733i engine parts repair for 2 years it is more than 12600 dollars and the depreciation is approximately 5000 dollars. Entire running costs: 17600 dollars, they should have hired approximately 5 new series or A6 and they save the headaches.

Nevertheless, if you are determined to buy approximately 7 secondhand series, do his diligence owed before the buy. Also it is known that later ' one extended the guarantees ' they are useless because everything is ' wear. '

If 7 series had ls400 as the reliability, I would recommend it without hesitating.

The coup of completely magnificent lout who seems strange, but it goes as it stinks and manages wonderfully.

The best BMW 645 driveshaft of the automobile of production one day (100 promotes to the brake / liter with normal aspiration and not con./desc. bullshit of VTEC). This has really the timing of variable valve VAIN, but quite or nothing not seems to many of the Japanese efforts. 8,000 REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE spent from the screams with a metallic croaking that only makes him smile openly.

What I love more on it although it is it depends on the driver remains of the problem rather that to dilute the experience with a bunch of the electronics of idiot's help. You only obtain a gloriously balanced chassis, so much power as you can use reasonably in the way, and direction and brakes that overflow with sensation and progression. If you exceed the sign, this will bite him strongly, and if you cover it with stars, this is its own stupid absence. I despair in some other reviews / comments of here that criticize hardly this car for his propensity of turning when provoked.

The interior is beautiful, and the seats are much unimportant. All the leather kappa thin is hand stitches with the impossibly tidy seam. I obtain complements with the BMW 635 engine parts all this time, it does not matter where I go. I will keep it forever, and will recommend it to someone.
mrvent : 1988 BMW 633 : Carster.com

This stupefaction of BMW 633 auto body parts looks of this car and with 286 it promotes the brake that will worry seriously many Porsches, Ferraris and other so-called supercars, looking like every piece so well as any of them. The noise of this one M of 24 Is able valve directly six when this grunts 5,000 REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE spent will raise the hair of neck of someone with an ounce of the soul. It is also considerably more rapid than the standard Saw Cosworth that I had earlier.

There were problems, but then no car of this age is going to be without problems. The review of it every 4,000 miles (without bearing in mind the dumb indicator), using the independent good one for review and parts, and use of parts of model for certain employments keeps the expenses and problems to minimum. The running costs are completely heavy, as the averages of car about 23 mile per gallon with a miscellany of conduction of freeway and city. But it deserves it.

The handling is well. The car is much the happy tail in the wet one, and the option of tire is limited due to the metric sizes.

mrvent : 1988 BMW 6 Series : Carster.com

In spite some problems BMW 630 auto body parts feels incredibly steady and shows very few carrying in spite of the age / mile number.

More flatly running engine is steady rock, no oil between changes using.

Impulses a little bit suddenly in slowly, town / hold and go for traffic which is expected to notch something, way circuit of the long throwing. This is sluggish almost in such driving terms.

HOWEVER, the car is really in his element under the hard acceleration and the quick movement. Very recognizable increase in the power production between 3000 and 5000 rpm. A true rocket in the high-speed crossing feels the car unbelievable stable at speeds more than 160 kms / h. I must still check top speed (and will not excel 200 kms / h without estimated rubber of the new speed).

mrvent : 2003 BMW 550 : Carster.com

O.k., First, you let me say that this car is extremely amusing. Then everything in the end, is said and is done if you enjoy the impulse goes with 'S', because during the standard cellar men isn't lacking in normal power, just if you forget which car is your driving, if it you remind your only mechanism with about 115 horse power that.

The first problem which we found out was an obvious 'chip' which moves in the third gearwheel. No big business, we brought it in the sole agency, and they repaired it under the guarantee, I think steady that this 'chip' was really the guilt of my mother for whom the car was bought. And when sighted, how they are surprised hadn't done a car with a manual BMW 550 tornado fuel saver, since she learned how one went (nearly 27 years ago) I that that was the only problem which we had with the Tranny. I cannot hold responsible the car barely.

mrvent : 1992 Acura Legend coupe LS 5 : Carster.com

Outside form is minimized with relish by resembling the lines of something European decent. At first glance (although an express!) of the head on the big oval searchlights of style in headlights seem similar to BMW 5 or 7 classify. Consideration of the Legend 1992 the cutting of LS is 11 years old, the outside dimensions takes part to be chic with today's norms.

By climbing the cutting of LS in the Legend 1992 to avr to be a rather religious experience. Places wrapped by some very good leather have the big side reinforce to ameliorate comfort and Acura Legend exhaust performance during lively behavior. The console of center falls completely to the line to the shifter and a noble addition in this top cut by the end. Wooden glance treated accents the already impressive inside of the car. Big analogical droughts so much like aesthetically and functional. The system of standard stereo BOSE is among the best available in 1992 and uses a norm sub the special serious loudspeaker. The wheel of bar went up audio orders are a noble standard addition.

mrvent : 2000 Acura CL 3.2 : Carster.com

Bought the secondhand car and they have been really happy with it.

They have read all the histories of frightfulness on the transmission and other quality shortcomings; but apart from a substitution of transmission that was made low and a memory of transmission - everything else has been impeccable.

The distributor even gave me a RSX to drive for 2 weeks while the Acura Cl suspension bushings and transmission were replaced.

The car had been very reliable and very cheap to support.

I changed the oil flown of transmission, liquid of brake, flown of power steering, ink pads of brake, candlesticks, pcv valve - all for me - and they were very easy to do. The car was designed very well and it belongs much to this one to work. In 20,000 miles of the conduction I have spent less than 200 dollars for the due maintenance.

Fireball22 : NASCAR's COT has made me an FOY : Carster.com

Well, it's finally done.

I've been a fan of NASCAR for as long as I can remember. Now I don't much care for it. Brian France: This ain't your grandaddy's NASCAR. And it isn't mine anymore, either. But let's go back to that long-ago fandom for a moment...

Sacramento, CA is not exactly the birthplace of NASCAR, so stock car racing must have gotten in my blood somehow, right? Well, Sacramento used to host NASCAR-sanctioned events out at the old state fairgrounds as part of the national tour. For three years they ran a 100-mile feature in conjunction with the state fair. On the day I was born, September 8, 1958 (yup, I'm that old) Parnelli Jones won the NASCAR 100-mile event at the Sacramento track that usually saw horse racing.

I guess that after three years of running a race clear on the other side of the country, NASCAR decided to skip us in favor of closer venues. Still, as I was growing up I followed the NASCAR Grand National circuit as best I could. My dad and I attended the Sacramento Autorama annual custom car show every year. After I grew restless looking at the cars, I would plant myself in the impromptu theatre and watch every reel of the old 16mm movies of classic NASCAR races they would offer. I was hooked.

My imagination was fueled by names like Richard Petty, David Pearson, Big Bill France, Little Joe Weatherly, Curtis Turner, Darel Dierenger, Lee Roy Yarbrough, Fred Lorenzen, and Holman-Moody. I also got a kick out of hearing names like Speedy Thompson, Smokey Yunick, Tiger Tom, Cotton Owens, Shorty Rollins, Tiny Lund, Flocko Jocko, Buck Baker, Coo-Coo Marlin, and of course, Fireball Roberts.

Another dozen years later, the broadcast networks started putting a few NASCAR events on TV. By the time that cable service finally made its way into our little corner of nowhere, I had the excitement of ESPN bringing nearly every event into my living room, live and in living color. And on the heels of that, NASCAR gave me a live race in my back yard when they added Sears Point as a venue in 1989.

Then I became an historian and webmaster for the Historic Stock Car Racing Series in 1999. Now I was immersed in NASCAR: TV, live events, and hands-on. Life was good.

Then Winston Cup bowed out of the series. Now we had a new series sponsor and a "chase" format. I gritted my teeth and accepted it. Some love was lost, but I still considered myself a fan. Then two more things happened that have pretty much killed off my interest: Jimmy Johnson and the Car of Tomorrow.

Let's be clear; Jimmy Johnson is a hell of a driver. Back-to-back championships is testiment to that. But he's so plain vanilla (downright bland) that I just can't get close to him. His personality is so robotic, so *blah*, it makes him perfect for the Car of Tomorrow, or COT. A plain vanilla, bland, robotic, *blah* excuse for a race car.

NASCAR has pretty much legislated personalities out of its drivers, and now has driven all personality out of its race cars. While the "stock" in stock cars
did disappear long ago, at least they weren't all 3,500 lb. Indy cars, which is what they really are now.

Jack Roush recently commented on NASCAR.com that the driver is being taken out of the equation in a stock car's set-up in favor of the 7-post rig, an engineer with a laptop and a simulation program. No wonder NASCAR is attracting Formula 1 drivers... it's turning into a mid-tech version of the same thing!

Plain vanilla race cars will result in more plain vanilla drivers, and result in more plain vanilla racing.

The Car of Tomorrow (COT) has turned me into an FOY... the Fan of Yesterday.

Fireball22 : Carster: Asleep at the Switch? : Carster.com

Carster.com seems a nice enough place... nice layouts, adequate functionality, good-natured competition, cool members... but it appears sometimes to have been orphaned by its creators.

As of this blog entry, the last news article is dated 7 months prior, there hasn't been a winning car in over a year, and a chunk of the site programming has periodic bugs.

And it's a shame. I recognize that this site isn't likely the sole venture or financial resource for its creators, but I think it deserves better. Its not cluttered with ads and attitude like cardomain.com (which also seems to be very clique-ish, IMHO), and was obviously started with great things in mind. Like the company profile states:

"Originating out of Seattle, Washington, Carster.com is a rapidly growing online community for auto enthusiasts. The website allows its members to create their own online "garage" that stores personal information and photos, as well as video clips, photos and histories of registrants' cars. Carster is also building an archive of car related news, photos and event coverage which you'll find nowhere else. "

Maybe the vision of its creators has faded. Maybe Carster is just in a period of transition. Maybe it is secretly being tweaked. Maybe the administrators are simply waiting to hear from the members. Until then, Carster is running on autopilot. Any ideas of what we can do to make it more inviting to new members and to keep it fresh for those already here? I, for one, would love to hear them.

Fireball22 : Who are those guys? : Carster.com

A lot of you have been asking (all right, two of you) who are the guys with me in my profile pictures? Well the guys posing with me in the photos are two retired NASCAR Winston Cup drivers, Ernie Irvan and Lake Speed. I got the chance to spend some great time with these two gentlemen during two different events with the Historic Stock Car Racing Series (http://www.hscrs.com). More about the group in a later blog.

Ernie joined us during an event at Portland International Raceway in July of 2002, but didn't race with us, and hasn't really raced since his last wreck when was racing the #36 Skittles Pontiac in 1999. Lake raced with us in an event at Phoenix International Raceway in February of 2001. He had such a good time that he located one of his former race cars, a 1994 #83 Purex Ford Thunderbird, and restored it to race in historic stock car events on the east coast. Both of these guys are just neat people to talk to, and further demonstrate the accessibility of NASCAR drivers.

And what's with the cowboy hat? Well, my nickname IS "Cowboy". I have been an historian, announcer, and photographer with the HSCRS since 2000, so I spend more than my share of time in the sun and the hat really helps (especially since I shave my head). But I've also worn cowboy hats and boots since I was about 7. It's as ingrained into my persona as Ford blue in my blood.

Yee haw.

Fireball22 : Well, here I am! Now what...? : Carster.com

I'm Don Falloon, from Citrus Heights, CA. My car on here is a 1964 Ford Galaxie stock car replica, a tribute to NASCAR legend Fireball Roberts; "Project Fireball".

It's possible that you've seen the car on websites like Cardomain, Hot Rod and Car Craft. So, why add another? Well, like anyone who reads this drivel, I'm proud of my car and the fact that it is a testament to my love of historic NASCAR, a result of my vision, my sweat and my blood.

Along with my buddy Don "Led Zeppelin" Hartwick (a.k.a. The Other Don), we've made it a bit of a challenge between each other to see just how many places we can get our respective cars seen and recognized. With me, it's a street-legal 60s-era stock car replica. With Don (Led Zeppelin on carster.com, as well as other car-related sites), it's his sharing of his metallic blue Saturn, code named "Stitch".

Bottom line: we're having fun here, and hope that you see our cars and postings in that light. Our cars may not possess the "Bling Factor" that many other owners bestow upon their cars, but they're as perfect for us as your car is to you.

Hopefully, you'll take the time to drop by again down the road when I might actually have some intelligent insights to share with you on here. Until then, thank you for visiting!

SinGin : Warped rotors? An unlikely story... : Carster.com

So I've had the problem before with the stock rotors on my Evo. At about 60 MPH or so when braking, the steering wheel will shake. At the time I thought maybe the rotors are warped and some other people said the same. They were worn anyway and the time came where I replaced them with aftermarket Rotora slotted rotors. They were replace in Novemember 2006. Haven't had any problems until recently, so I did some more research on this. This is what I found...

http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml

And I totally believe it because as fast as myself or others might like to think they are, we are not truly pushing the brake system to it's limits. TV or thickness variation sounds much more likely in everyday driving situations. Yesterday, as a test I "scrubbed" the rotors by braking gradually harder from 60+. Low and behold, the steering jutter is gone. =)

So I'm told that my head gasket needs to be replaced but they didn't have any tests to prove this. The labor alone is almost $1K. I decided to have my PS13 towed back to my house. If it really needs to have the head gasket replaced, I'm going to do it myself. But first I order a combustion leak tester kit to confirm the gasket is leaking. Low and behold the test is negative. Next I think I will temp test the radiator but if it's not the head gasket then I'm going to need to do more research.

Daniels07MX5 : FRIENDS : Carster.com

Friends

Someone will always be prettier.

Someone will always be smarter.

Someone's house will be bigger.

Someone will drive a better car.

Someone's children will do better in school.

And Someone's husband will fix more things around the house.

So let it go,

and love you and your circumstances.

Think about it.

The prettiest woman in the world can have hell in her heart.

And the most highly favored

Woman on your job may be unable to have children.

And the richest woman you know,

who's got the car, the house, the clothes....might be lonely.

And the word says if "I have not Love, I am nothing."

So, again, love you.

Love who you are.

Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say

"I am too blessed to be stressed and too anointed to be disappointed!"

"Winners make things happen.

Losers let things happen."

"To the world you might be one person,

but to one person you just might be the world".

Just found out about the site, and have a decent start at setting things up. I have a lot of work going on with my Tiburon right now, and it will hopefully be done September 1st. It has everything from show, to sound, to speed.

My G35 is going to remain mostly stock on the exterior, except for maybe a new bumper and a nice set of wheels. There will primarily only be performance mods put onto it.

mnitetrain : Thanks to IS300M & SilverSpecial : Carster.com

One of the hottest days of our short summer and Scott & Bobby took time to organize an "extreme Makeover" of Mnitetrain.
Completely detailed interior and exterior of Mnitetrain as it passed 355,000 miles!!!!!

It is guys like these, willing to shake up buckets of sweat on a sweltering day that makes the whole "car thing" possible and enjoyable. This is another preamble to that glorious Fun Field, the Chrysler Nationals, Carlisle, Pa 7/5-7/8/07.

Pay attention as you walk past those long rows of marvelous and well caressed Intrepids, LHS, Concorde's and some of the sexiest 300M's around there are a lot of stories there.

352,000 miles new set of Toyo Proxie TPT
355,000 interior/exterior detailing

Scott, Bobby, thank you again for the work you guys put in, I couldn't have done it alone.

Gentlemen start your engines!!!! Carlisle Caravan getting a head of steam up!!

SinGin : Working on the 240 : Carster.com

So a couple of months back I experienced a overheating problem with my S13. Unfortunately, bad went to worse when someone offered to drive it home for me from work. I should've told them to pull over as soon as there were signs of overheating. Now my coolant system has sprung a leak.

I'm taking my sweet time but it's starting to bug me just having it sit there uncared for. I performed a pressure test of the coolant system. Replaced the radiator cap. Saw the heater hose was spraying all over the engine block. When I got around to pulling it out to take down to the parts store for reference, I realized I'm going to have to remove the intake mani to just get to it. Ever since, I've been busy or sick.

Good thing the S13 isn't my only ride...

WebMasterP : Added CF Driveshaft : Carster.com

I added carbon fiber driveshaft 2 Saturday's ago and I think I've finally gotten used to the extra power that was free'd up by the lightweight shaft so I don't really feel it as much anymore. The initial feel from the reduced rotational mass was exhilirating. The car just flys through the first 3 or 4 gears now. This was one of my favorite mods (I think it might be my favorite, but I'm torn between it and my Turbo-back) I've done so far because in addition to the power felt by reducing the weight, the clutch engagement feels smoother than it did before.

steel : no monte for a week : Carster.com

the monte has been shifting hard for a few months now on and off, courtesy of delta sonic.after the tranny flush it started to sct like an ass with long hard shifts, diagnosis debris in the valve body.now the beast(monte)get to go to the doctor and spend a week with the tranny tore apart.a nice little price tag to go with it $1,200,at least delta sonic is picking up the tag.but at least when its done me and a bunch of people are going to lancaster speedway and dragging all day for shits and giggles nothing serious just for fun, like i can really beat a 600hp 67 camaro.at least it will be fun.

goodlscobalt06 : tickets (so pissed) : Carster.com

so, about a week or so ago, i was driving my car and i was going around 30 miles over the speed limit. and there's this car beside me going the same speed and i see a cop. he stops and doesn't put on his lights til i've already turned off to where i was going. he sees where i pull in and he pulls up and writes me TWO tickets. one for speeding. and the other for attempting to elude. such bullshit. the law in my state says that attempting to elude, you have to have traveled at least 1 mile and the officer has to have his lights on and signal for you to pull over. i hate cops who get power trips over their authority. my court date is june 4th. i can't wait to see the cop's face when that charge is thrown out.
